John Klingberg scored 1:08 into overtime, Mason McTavish added two goals and two assists and the Anaheim Ducks rallied for a 5-4 victory over the visiting San Jose Sharks on Friday.

Anaheim’s Troy Terry, who was named an All-Star this week, carried the puck to the front of the San Jose goal in overtime and sent a pass back to Klingberg, who beat Sharks goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen for his fifth of the season.

Trevor Zegras and Ryan Strome added goals for the Ducks, while Anthony Stolarz had 37 saves in his first game since he faced the Sharks on Dec. 9. Stolarz (lower body) spent nine games on injured reserve before he was activated on Sunday.

Timo Meier had two goals for the Sharks, while Erik Karlsson added a first-period assist to extend his franchise-record point streak to 14 games. Karlsson had at least one assist in each of those games, with the assist streak tied for the third longest by a defenseman in NHL history.

Matt Nieto and Steven Lorentz added goals for the Sharks, Kevin Lebanc logged two assists and Kahkonen made 24 saves.

A spirited first period included four goals, a fight and a pair of high-sticking penalties. Nieto scored his seventh of the season for the Sharks after just 38 seconds, and Lorentz added his fourth at 6:03. Zegras scored his 11th for the Ducks at 6:38 and Strome had his 11th at 14:15 to level the score 2-2.

Karlsson collected his 41st assist of the season on Lorentz’s goal.

The second period was nearly as frenzied with two goals from the Sharks and one from the Ducks in a 3:04 stretch. Meier scored for the Sharks at 10:16. After McTavish scored for the Ducks at 13:06, Meier added his 23rd a mere 14 seconds later as San Jose grabbed a 4-3 lead.

McTavish tied the game 4-4 at 13:13 of the third period when he scored his ninth off an assist from Adam Henrique, who was nearly offside on the play. The goal was confirmed on replay.

McTavish, 19, had his first career game with more than two points.

The Ducks allowed at least four goals to the Sharks in all four meetings this season but still won three of those contests.

Anaheim won its second game in a row while San Jose lost for the seventh time in the past nine games (2-4-3).
