Lukas Dostal made 40 saves for the Anaheim Ducks in a 3-1 win against the New York Islanders on Tuesday night in Elmont, N.Y.

Frank Vatrano had a goal and an assist, and Leo Carlsson and Troy Terry scored power-play goals for the Ducks, who had lost two in a row and four of five.

Mathew Barzal scored a power-play goal and Ilya Sorokin made 19 saves for the Islanders, who have dropped three of four.

The Ducks came in 2-for-26 on the power play this season, but they went 2-for-3 against New York.

The Ducks went on the first power play of the game when Pierre Engvall was called for holding Brock McGinn at 12:27 of the first period.

Vatrano took a shot from just above the right circle that Carlsson redirected between Sorokin’s pads for a 1-0 lead at 14:05.

Anaheim defenseman Olen Zellweger hit a post off the rush at 6:24 of the second period, and teammate Mason McTavish had an open side of the net seconds later but couldn’t handle the bouncing puck.

Anaheim defenseman Radko Gudas swept away a puck that got behind Dostal later in the period, to keep the Islanders scoreless.

The Ducks went on their second power play when Engvall was called for slashing Terry at 13:01 and Anaheim capitalized again.

McTavish carried the puck along the goal line before centering a pass to Terry for a redirection and a 2-0 lead at 14:07.

Terry stretched his point streak to eight games (five goals, three assists).

The Islanders had a two-man advantage for 1:21 early in the third period. Barzal scored with a one-timer from the left circle just after the first penalty expired to cut it to 2-1 at 5:31 of the third.

Vatrano sealed it with an empty-net goal with 1:00 left.
