Vancouver Canucks defenseman Carson Soucy will miss six to eight weeks with a lower-body injury, the team announced Wednesday.
Soucy was hit in the back of the leg by a shot from Montreal’s Juraj Slafkovsky during the second period of Vancouver’s 5-2 win over the Canadiens on Sunday. He was in extreme pain after being hit by the puck and soon went to the dressing room. He didn’t return to the game.
“It’s 82 games, and you’re going to get injuries, and we’ve been fortunate enough on the injury front with some parts of our lineup,” Canucks coach Rick Tocchet told reporters.
Soucy, 29, signed a three-year, $9.75 million deal with the Canucks in the offseason. He has two goals and five points in 13 games this season.
Soucy spent the past two seasons with the Seattle Kraken. He has 23 goals and 50 assists in 263 games with the Minnesota Wild (2017-21), Seattle (2021-23) and Vancouver.
