Jeremy Swayman made 24 saves as the Boston Bruins earned their second consecutive shutout, defeating the visiting Detroit Red Wings 3-0 on Tuesday night.

Pavel Zacha, Fraser Minten and Mark Kastelic scored the goals as Boston cruised to its fourth straight victory and sixth in seven contests.

Zacha tallied the game-winner at 10:59 of the second period. The other two goals came in the third.

The Bruins dominated to the tune of a 41-24 shots-on-goal advantage, including a 16-2 edge in the third period.

With an assist on Minten’s goal, David Pastrnak passed Bobby Orr for seventh on the Bruins’ all-time scoring list. Pastrnak has 889 career points in 12 NHL seasons, all with Boston.

Cam Talbot stopped 38 shots for the Red Wings, who had a four-game win streak snapped and were shut out for the third time this season.

An eventful but scoreless first period saw Boston lead 13-10 in shots. Swayman made multiple highlight-reel saves after Detroit went on the power play at 11:59, stopping J.T. Compher from point-blank range and then Axel Sandin-Pellikka on a one-timer from the point.

It was Talbot’s turn to flash the leather in the second. After helping to kill off the Red Wings’ first penalty in the opening minutes of the frame, he robbed a streaking Morgan Geekie, who attempted to lift a shot under the crossbar at the 8:31 mark.

Zacha lifted the Bruins to the lead just over two minutes later. The center circled the top of the zone with the puck before getting a pass back from Mason Lohrei to trigger a perfect wrister from the slot past Talbot’s glove.

Boston made it a 2-0 game at 3:49 of the third, as Charlie McAvoy followed his shot down the middle of the ice and dished a quick pass to Minten to tap home from the doorstep.

Swayman did not face a third-period chance until Alex DeBrincat’s try from the left circle as a Detroit power play ticked down with 5:21 remaining. Dylan Larkin clanked the left post with a wrister seconds earlier.

The hosts recorded the first 15 shots of the frame.

Kastelic punctuated the Boston victory by beating an oncoming defender for a one-handed, empty-net goal with 3:59 to go.
