Bobby McMann scored two goals in the first period and the Toronto Maple Leafs went on to rout the visiting Los Angeles Kings 6-2 on Wednesday night.

Auston Matthews had a goal and two assists and William Nylander had a goal and an assist for the Maple Leafs, who have won three in a row. Morgan Rielly and John Tavares each added a goal; Mitch Marner had three assists; and Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Max Domi and Jake McCabe each had two assists.

Toronto goaltender Anthony Stolarz made 32 saves.

Alex Turcotte and Kevin Fiala scored for the Kings, who are 1-1-2 to begin their season-opening seven-game road trip.

Kings goaltender David Rittich made his first start of the season and allowed four goals on 14 shots. Pheonix Copley replaced him in the second period and made 10 saves.

Toronto took a 3-0 lead in the first period.

McMann scored from the slot at 6:54 with Domi and McCabe earning the assists.

Matthews scored his first of the season at 8:49 on a shot from the left circle after flubbing his first shot attempt from the slot.

Next, Nylander broke down the left wing and set up McMann in the low slot for his third goal of the season at 17:12.

The Kings dominated play early in the second period, but the Maple Leafs scored at 7:56. Rielly scored when he redirected McCabe’s pass.

Nylander scored his third goal of the season from the right circle at 18:31 of the second. It was Toronto’s first power-play goal of the season. Brandt Clarke was off for holding.

Turcotte scored on a 29-foot wrist shot at 2:42 of the third period with an assist from Andre Lee.

Fiala scored his third of the season at 9:03 of the third from the edge of the crease when Stolarz swept the puck across the line with his glove.

Tavares scored his second of the season at 17:14 of the third on a power play. Kyle Burroughs was off for slashing.

The Kings were without starting goaltender Darcy Kuemper (lower-body injury) and defenseman Joel Edmundson (personal), who was placed on non-roster injured reserve earlier in the day.
