Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Jarred Tinordi signed a one-year contract extension worth $1.25 million on Tuesday.
Tinordi, who would have been a pending unrestricted free agent, was claimed off waivers by the Blackhawks earlier this season from the New York Rangers.
The 31-year-old has recorded eight points (two goals, six assists) in 44 games this season with Chicago.
Tinordi required reportedly somewhere between 50-to-100 stitches after taking a skate blade to the chin during a game in December. He then received facial fractures and had his jaw wired shut later in the month after being struck in the face by a puck.
Tinordi has 21 points (four goals, 17 assists) in 153 career games with the Montreal Canadiens, Arizona Coyotes, Nashville Predators, Boston Bruins, New York Rangers and Blackhawks.
