The Carolina Hurricanes said center Seth Jarvis will not return to Monday’s Game 7 of the Eastern Conference second-round series against the visiting New York Rangers after he sustained an upper-body injury.
Jarvis absorbed a big hit from the Rangers’ Jacob Trouba during the first period, and Jarvis was slow to get up and return to the bench. It ultimately triggered a penalty for too many men on the ice, and New York took a 2-0 lead with a goal on the ensuing power play.
The Hurricanes then ruled out Jarvis’ return during the game’s first intermission.
Jarvis, 20, was Carolina’s first-round pick in the 2020 draft (13th overall). He made his NHL debut this season and tallied 40 points (17 goals, 23 assists) in 68 games in the regular season. Jarvis also had three goals and five assists during the Hurricanes’ playoff run.
