Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price won the NHL’s Bill Masterton Trophy on Friday night for perseverance and sportsmanship.
Price beat two fellow finalists, New York Islanders defenseman Zdeno Chara and Philadelphia Flyers forward Kevin Hayes, to win the award.
The 34-year-old Price battled injuries last season and entered the league’s NHL/NHLPA player assistance program just before the start of the 2021-22 season. He appeared in five games, posting a 1-4-0 record with a 3.63 goals-against average and .878 save percentage.
In 15 seasons with Montreal, Price has notched 361 wins. He has a .917 save percentage in his career to go along with a 2.51 career GAA.
