In 2022, one of the biggest game releases should be S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl. But that is not all! The game is also going to feature a big tech trend next year. The move will have non fungible tokens or NFTs for the first time in the metaverse. It is being developed by GSC Game World.
According to a report by pcgamer website, players can register for “item drops,” later in December. These drops will be made in January 2022. They will be different from usual game drops as they would be online auctions. GSC World describes the NFT as “the first ever metahuman.” The metahuman will be an NPC which has the owner’s face scanned. The online auction will decide the owner.
GSC Game World CEO Evgeniy Grygorovych released a statement by email to The Verge which stated that the idea of the related NFT was “to give the right to recreate its owner’s identity within the game through one of the NPCs.” The person would have to go to their studio and undergo a detailed scanning procedure. After that, they would make the “person appear in the game world as one of the characters.”
There will be a second round of drops in February. It will feature “highly secretive genesis packs.” GSC Game World said that details will be revealed on Twitter and Discord. The gaming company did mention they and other drops will not have an influence on game play. They would not give the owners any type of advantage over any other player.
However, they can be traded on DMarket. DMarket is an NFT trading platform and marketplace for CS:GO and Dota 2. It also features Team Fortress 2 cosmetics and skins.
D Market’s Stalker 2 page has no pricing information, as yet. However, it says that it will “initiate” their “Metaversial bridge” and offer three lucky fans connection with at least 10+ or many more gamers throughout the world as an NFT.
