Minnesota Vikings star wideout Justin Jefferson and San Francisco 49ers star pass rusher Nick Bosa were injured on the same play in the third quarter Sunday in Minneapolis.

Bosa appeared to injure his left ankle, which was rolled up on by a teammate as he attempted to rush the pocket. He walked to the sidelines under his own power and returned to the game in the fourth quarter.

Separately, Jefferson appeared to injure his right leg as he also got rolled up on during the play. Jefferson walked slowly off the field with his arms draped around the Vikings’ training staff.

Jefferson didn’t return to the game, which Minnesota won 23-17. His injury was officially deemed a bruised right quadriceps, and he told reporters after the game there should be no worry about his status going forward.

“I’m not seriously injured,” Jefferson said. “So that’s the main important thing. So it’s just all about getting to the training room, making sure my body is right for next week, and I’ll be ready to go next Sunday.”

Jefferson, who tore the hamstring in the same leg last season and missed seven games, finished the game with four catches for 133 yards and a touchdown. He hauled in a career-long 97-yard touchdown in the first half.

Coach Kevin O’Connell added that the team hopes Jefferson will be no more than day-to-day with the quad injury. Minnesota hosts the Houston Texans in Week 3 on Sept. 22.

Bosa finished the day with two sacks and five tackles.
