Tennessee Titans star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is expected to miss “several weeks” but will not need surgery for a left knee injury sustained in practice, head coach Brian Callahan said Saturday.
“It’s not a surgical issue, so the timeline could vary on those injuries,” Callahan said. “So it will be a few weeks probably until he’s back and ready to roll.”
Hopkins wore a wrap on his left leg early in the team practice on Wednesday before leaving the field with vice president of sports medicine Todd Toriscelli, according to reports.
The team didn’t have practice on Thursday and Friday’s session was closed to the media.
A five-time Pro Bowl selection and three-time first-team All-Pro, Hopkins led the Titans with 75 catches, 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023.
Hopkins, 32, has 928 career receptions for 12,355 yards and 78 TDs in 162 games (161 starts) for the Houston Texans (2013-19), Arizona Cardinals (2020-22) and Titans.
The Texans selected him 27th overall in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Clemson.
Tennessee could turn in Hopkins’ absence to Treylon Burks, a 2022 first-round pick, as well as free-agent signings Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd.
The Titans open the regular season on Sept. 8 at the Chicago Bears.
