NFL News: Reports: Lions acquire WR Denzel Mims from Jets

The New York Jets agreed to deal fourth-year wideout Denzel Mims to the Detroit Lions, multiple media outlets reported Wednesday night.

The Jets will receive a 2025 conditional sixth-round pick, while the Lions will get a 2025 seventh-round pick to complete the trade, according to the reports.

The Jets had excused Mims, a second-round selection in 2020, from reporting to training camp earlier in the day and reportedly informed him of their intent to waive or trade him.

Mims, 25, caught just 11 passes for 186 yards in 10 games (four starts) last season. He did not score a touchdown in three seasons with New York, amassing 42 catches for 676 yards in 30 games (15 starts).

The Lions were looking to fill at least a short-term receiver vacancy, as Jameson Williams will miss the first six games of the 2023 season while serving a suspension for violating the NFL’s gambling policy.

The Jets dealt receiver Elijah Moore, a 2021 second-rounder, to the Cleveland Browns after last season and didn’t re-sign Braxton Berrios, who wound up with the Miami Dolphins.
