Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson could be out until Week 16 due to a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, ESPN reported Sunday. That would put his return on Christmas Eve at home against the Atlanta Falcons.

Jackson sustained the injury last Sunday in the Ravens’ win over the Denver Broncos.

The Ravens (8-4) are scheduled to visit the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-7) on Sunday, leaving backup Tyler Huntley to start.

Jackson is crucial to the Ravens offense. Last season, he missed the final four games because of an ankle injury, and Baltimore was 0-4 in his absence.

The league MVP in 2019, Jackson has completed 62.3 percent of his passes this season for 2,242 yards with 17 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He’s the team’s leading rusher, running for 764 yards with three scores.

The 24-year-old Huntley appeared in seven games (four starts) last season and complete 64.9 percent of his passes for 1,081 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions. He ran for an additional 294 yards and two TDs.

Huntley completed 27 of 32 passes for 187 yards with an interception against the Broncos after replacing Jackson. He rushed for 41 yards and scored the game’s only touchdown with 28 seconds left in a 10-9 win.

The Ravens, who have an identical record as the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC North, have another key road game next Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
