Just days after losing starting left tackle Rashawn Slater to a torn patellar tendon, the Los Angeles Chargers will reportedly sign offensive lineman David Sharpe.

According to CBS Sports, Sharpe will bolster a depleted Chargers line after the team announced that Slater will miss the 2025 season.

Originally a fourth-round pick of the then-Oakland Raiders in 2017, the Florida product last played an NFL game in 2023 while with the Carolina Panthers. Sharpe spent the 2024 season with the Houston Texans and New York Jets practice squads.

After a year with the Raiders, Sharpe joined the Texans in 2018 before returning to Oakland the following year. Sharpe then bounced around to the then-Washington Football Team (2020), Baltimore Ravens (2021) and Carolina.

Sharpe has played 45 games, including six starts, throughout his career.

The serious injury to two-time Pro Bowl selection Slater occurred 11 days after he signed a four-year, $114 million deal to become the highest-paid offensive lineman in NFL history.
