New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is officially inactive Sunday and rookie Bailey Zappe will make his first career road start at Cleveland.
Jones will miss his third straight game with a high ankle sprain when the Patriots (2-3) visit the Browns (2-3).
Also inactive for the Patriots in Week 6 are running back Damien Harris (hamstring), wide receiver Nelson Agholor (hamstring), linebacker Josh Uche (hamstring), defensive tackle Lawrence Guy (shoulder) and cornerback Jonathan Jones (ankle).
Zappe, a fourth-round draft pick, led New England to a 29-0 home victory against the Detroit Lions last weekend, throwing for 188 yards with one touchdown and one interception in his first NFL start.
Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney (ankle, knee, elbow) and cornerback Denzel Ward (concussion) are inactive for the Browns, along with running back Demetric Felton (wrist) and offensive tackle Joe Haeg (concussion).
