Former four-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman Mike Pouncey signed a one-day contract with Miami on Thursday to retire as a Dolphin.
Pouncey, 33, last played in 2019, starting five games for the Los Angeles Chargers. He played in 93 games (all starts) with the Dolphins from 2011-17.
Pouncey met with the media at 228 pounds, 70 pounds lighter than his playing weight.
“The process for us was just stop eating like linemen,” Pouncey said. “They ask all the time, ‘How do you guys eat?’ and I say, ‘Like rabbits.’ They say, ‘What do you mean?’ and I say, ‘Well back when we were playing, we ate like pigs.'”
The Dolphins selected Pouncey No. 15 overall in the 2011 NFL Draft.
His brother, Maurkice, retired after the 2020 season, having played all 10 of his seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
