Jordan Davis blocked Joshua Karty’s game-winning field-goal try as time expired and returned it for a touchdown as the Philadelphia Eagles rallied for a 33-26 victory Sunday against the visiting Los Angeles Rams.

It was the second consecutive blocked field goal for the Eagles (3-0), who overcame a sluggish first half and erased a 19-point, second-half deficit to stun the Rams (2-1).

Trailing 26-7, Jalen Hurts threw his first three touchdown passes of the season. The last one, a 4-yarder to DeVonta Smith with 1:48 left, gave Philadelphia a 27-26 lead but the two-point conversion pass failed.

Matthew Stafford drove the Rams 44 yards in 10 plays to set up Karty’s 44-yard attempt before Davis delivered the heroic walk-off play. Jalen Carter had blocked Karty’s 36-yard try with 8:46 left.

Held to 33 yards of offense in the first half, Philadelphia improbably rebounded for its 12th straight home win and 19th victory in its last 20 games overall, including last season’s run to a Super Bowl championship.

Hurts passed for 226 yards and three TDs and also ran for a score. A.J. Brown caught six passes for 109 yards and a TD. Saquon Barkley, who gashed the Rams for 460 rushing yards in two meetings last season, was held to 46 yards on 18 carries.

Stafford passed for 196 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Puka Nacua caught 11 balls for 112 yards and Kyren Williams rushed for 94 yards with a touchdown catch.

The action began with Hurts scoring on a 1-yard tush push for a 7-0 lead.

The Rams scored the game’s next 26 points, starting with Karty’s 51-yard field goal.

Los Angeles moved ahead 10-7 on Stafford’s 44-yard touchdown strike to Davante Adams.

The Rams settled for three more Karty field goals (28, 33 and 46 yards) to extend the lead to 19-7 at halftime.

The second half started with an Eagles turnover. Jared Verse’s strip-sack of Hurts, recovered by Nathan Landman, set up Stafford’s 10-yard TD pass to Williams.

It gave the Rams a 26-7 lead 54 seconds into the third quarter and gave Stafford 382 TD passes, moving past Matt Ryan (381) for ninth place in NFL history.

Moving the ball for the first time since their initial drive, the Eagles sliced the deficit to 26-21. Hurts hooked up with Dallas Goedert for a 33-yard score and hit Brown from 9 yards out, the latter with 2:16 left in the third.
