The New York Jets lost quarterback Tyrod Taylor in the first quarter of Sunday’s 34-10 home loss to the Miami Dolphins when he suffered a groin injury.
Taylor was deemed doubtful to return and exited the game after throwing a deflected pass for an interception to linebacker Tyrel Dodson on the second drive for the Jets (3-10).
Taylor made his third consecutive start for the injured Justin Fields (knee soreness), and was in for six plays, completing one pass on four attempts for 6 yards before leaving the game.
Undrafted rookie Brady Cook replaced Taylor with 3:39 left in the first quarter and played the remainder of the contest. Cook, in his first NFL action, was 14 of 30 for 163 yards and two interceptions and was sacked six times.
The Dolphins (6-7), meanwhile, lost running back De’Von Achane to a rib injury.
Achane ran for 92 yards and a touchdown on seven carries and caught one pass for 13 yards before exiting with 7:10 left in the second quarter.
Also for the Jets, defensive lineman Tyler Baron (knee), linebacker Kiko Mauigoa (shoulder, and cornerback Azareye’h Thomas (shoulder) were ruled out for the game. For the Dolphins, safety Elijah Campbell (knee, ankle) and linebacker Caleb Johnson (shoulder) made early exits.
