New York Giants star rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the host Seattle Seahawks, head coach Brian Daboll announced Friday.

Nabers remains in concussion protocol and will not travel with the Giants (1-3) to the Emerald City to face the Seahawks (3-1).

“You take those concussions very seriously,” Daboll said. “He’s made progress but not to the point where he can go out there and play. But his safety, his well-being is first and foremost.

“I’d say each day it’s getting a little bit better, but just not at the point where he can take the next step in the protocol for us,” Daboll added. “Again, you don’t want to force anything like that. You want to make sure that all the steps are very careful in that regards to concussions. So, he’s better. He’s getting better. He’s in the meetings, things like that. He’s doing some stuff with the trainers inside, and each day it’s been a little bit more.”

Nabers was injured while attempting to hold onto the ball along the sideline during a fourth-and-6 play with 3 1/2 minutes remaining in a 20-15 loss to the visiting Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 26.

The 21-year-old has a league-high 35 catches for 386 yards and three touchdowns in four games since being selected by New York with the sixth overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft out of LSU.

Wan’Dale Robinson, who is nursing a heel injury, and Darius Slayton would be looked upon to pick up the slack in place of Nabers.

Also on Friday, Daboll said running back Devin Singletary (groin) is expected to work on the field. The coach added that cornerbacks Adoree’ Jackson (calf) and Dru Phillips (calf) are “trending in the right direction.”

“I’d say today will be an important day for (Singletary),” Daboll said Friday. “He’s kind of where Adoree’ and Dru were yesterday, doing some things. We’ll see how he feels today, put him through some drills and make our decision after that.”
