The New York Giants placed offensive tackle Evan Neal on the active/physically unable to perform list on Tuesday ahead of the start of training camp.
Neal can be activated from the list once he passes his physical. If he’s ultimately moved to the reserve/PUP list during the preseason, he will have to miss at least the first four games of the regular season.
Neal aggravated an ankle injury on Nov. 5 in a game against the Las Vegas Raiders, which wound up being diagnosed as a small fracture. He underwent a procedure on the ankle Jan. 5 and took part in some offseason drills but missed Giants minicamp in June.
The 23-year-old has played in 20 games (all starts) in two seasons since New York selected him seventh overall in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Alabama.
The Giants also placed cornerback Aaron Robinson on the active/PUP list Tuesday as he works his way back from an ACL tear. Rookie tight end Theo Johnson was previously placed on the active/PUP list with a hip flexor injury.
The Giants put safety Jalen Mills (calf) and cornerback Stantley Thomas-Oliver III (groin) on the reserve/non-football injury list.
