The Los Angeles Rams dealt wide receiver Van Jefferson and a 2025 seventh-round draft pick to the Atlanta Falcons for a sixth-round selection in the same draft on Tuesday.
The Rams took Jefferson with the 57th overall pick of the 2020 draft, and the following season, he started all 17 games.
However, this season, he has taken a back seat to standout rookie Puka Nacua, and with the emergence of Tutu Atwell and the return of All-Pro Cooper Kupp from injury, Jefferson had become a spare part for the Rams.
He played just two snaps on Sunday in the Rams’ loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. On the season, while he had started four of five games, he’d been targeted just 15 times with eight catches for 108 yards and no touchdowns.
The Falcons current receiving corps is led by Drake London and Mack Hollins, as well as tight ends Kyle Pitts and Jonnu Smith.
In 49 career regular-season games (30 starts) with the Rams, Jefferson has 101 catches for 1,499 yards and 10 touchdowns. Most of that production came in 2021, when he made 50 receptions for 802 yards with six scores.
Jefferson, 27, is playing on the final season of his four-year, $5.61 million rookie deal.
