Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane on Monday underwent an MRI, which showed no fracture after he injured his ribs in Sunday’s victory over the New York Jets.

In his Monday press conference, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said the 24-year-old Achane will have treatment and rest up ahead of next Monday night’s game at the AFC North-leading Pittsburgh Steelers (7-6).

“I know he’s highly motivated to play,” McDaniel said. “And we’re benefiting (from) an extra day before the (Monday night) game. He was very clear during the game that if I needed him, he could go out there, however it was uncomfortable. It felt better today.”

McDaniel added that Achane’s availability for the Pittsburgh game “looks good.”

McDaniel said the third-year back suffered the injury when he landed on the ball after a 29-yard carry in the second quarter of the 34-10 home victory. Achane finished with 92 yards on seven carries and one reception for 13 yards in Miami’s fourth straight win.

A third-round pick out of Texas A&M in 2023, Achane has rushed 193 times for 1,126 yards and seven touchdowns along with 55 receptions for 383 yards and four scores in 13 games (all starts) this season. In three seasons with the Dolphins (6-7), he has rushed for 2,833 yards on 499 carries with 21 touchdowns. He’s also compiled 160 catches for 1,172 yards and 13 scores.
