Washington star quarterback Jayden Daniels, who missed the loss on Monday night to the Kansas City Chiefs because of a hamstring injury, is expected to practice in some capacity on Wednesday, Commanders coach Dan Quinn said on Tuesday.

“He had a good rehab session on Sunday,” Quinn said. “The team’s back out at practice (on Wednesday) and we plan on him being a part of that.”

Quinn said he had not met with the medical team prior to Tuesday’s press conference. He said he would have more details on Wednesday on Daniels, wide receiver Terry McLaurin, who aggravated his quad injury, and offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, who exited the 28-7 road loss with a hamstring injury.

Daniels, 24, sustained the right hamstring strain in the third quarter of a 44-22 road loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 19. He also sat out two games earlier this season with a knee sprain sustained in Week 2 versus the Green Bay Packers.

The 2024 NFL Rookie of the Year, Daniels has thrown for 1,031 yards, eight touchdowns and one interception this season with 211 rushing yards and one rushing score.

Marcus Mariota relieved Daniels in the Cowboys game and has started in his place for three games, playing the entire way against the Las Vegas Raiders, Atlanta Falcons and Chiefs.

Mariota, who turns 32 on Thursday, has completed 56 of 88 passes (63.6%) for 639 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions. He also has run 18 times for 122 yards and one TD.

The Commanders (3-5), who have lost three consecutive games, host the Seattle Seahawks (5-2) on Sunday night.

Washington released veteran kicker Matthew Wright from the practice squad on Tuesday. Wright was signed to fill in for starter Matt Gay (back issue) against the Chiefs and made his only extra-point attempt while not attempting a field goal.
