The Los Angeles Chargers placed rookie Omarion Hampton on injured reserve Wednesday and signed fellow running back Kimani Vidal to the active roster.

The Chargers also signed running back Nyheim Hines to the practice squad on Wednesday.

Hampton sustained an ankle injury after tripping over a defender late in the third quarter of Los Angeles’ 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday. He will miss at least the next four games before he’s eligible to return.

Hampton, 22, has started all five games at running back for the Chargers after being selected in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2025 NFL Draft in April. He has gained 314 yards on the ground with two touchdowns and added 20 receptions for 136 yards.

Vidal, 24, has four carries for 18 yards in two games this season.

He has 47 rushes for 173 yards in 12 career games with Los Angeles.

Vidal joins Hassan Haskins as viable options at running back for the Chargers (3-2), who visit the Miami Dolphins (1-4) on Sunday.

Haskins, 25, has five carries for 13 yards in his third season in the league and second year with Los Angeles.

Offseason signing Najee Harris was lost for the year to a torn Achilles in Week 3.
