The Los Angeles Chargers announced the signing of formerly retired safety Tony Jefferson on Friday.
They also signed former Ohio State sprinter-turned-receiver Praise Olatoke.
Jefferson, 32, last played for the New York Giants in 2022 and announced his retirement in May 2023.
The California native spent last season as a scouting intern with the Baltimore Ravens, one of his former teams.
Undrafted out of Oklahoma in 2013, Jefferson appeared in 113 games (67 starts) with the Arizona Cardinals (2013-16), Ravens (2017-19, 2021), San Francisco 49ers (2021) and Giants (2022). He recorded 492 tackles, 9.5 sacks, eight forced fumbles and four interceptions.
Terms of Jefferson’s deal with the Chargers were not disclosed.
Olatoke, 23, was born in Nigeria and raised in Scotland. He arrives via the NFL’s International Pathway Program.
He was a first-team All-Big Ten selection during the 2022 outdoor track and field season, when he ran the 100-meter dash in 10.27 seconds.
