Tampa Bay Buccaneers running backs coach Skip Peete is responsive, coherent and in stable condition after experiencing a medical episode during Wednesday morning’s team walk-through practice, the team announced via press release.

Peete was attended to by team medical personnel before he was transported off site for further medical evaluation.

Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles told reporters that Peete collapsed and said tests were being done regarding possible dehydration.

Peete, 62, is in his third season as the Buccaneers’ running backs coach. He’s been an NFL running back coach continuously since 1998 with the exception of one season, previously making stops with the Oakland Raiders (1998-2006), Dallas Cowboys (2007-12, 2020-22), Chicago Bears (2013-14) and Los Angeles Rams (2016-19).

Peete’s father, Willie, was also Tampa Bay’s running backs coach from 1992-94. His brother, Rodney, played quarterback in the NFL for 16 seasons.

The organization said that more updates about Peete’s status will be shared when available.
