NFL News: Bills’ James Cook replaces Derrick Henry on Pro Bowl roster

Buffalo Bills running back James Cook and center Connor McGovern and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield are among those headed to the Pro Bowl Games as replacements.

Cook is in for the Baltimore Ravens’ Derrick Henry, McGovern replaces the Kansas City Chiefs’ Creed Humphrey and Mayfield substitutes for Washington Commanders rookie Jayden Daniels.

No reason was given for Henry opting out. Humphrey is prepping for Super Bowl LIX and Daniels sustained an injury in the NFC Championship Game loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

The Pro Bowl Games will take place on Thursday (7-8:30 p.m. ET) and Sunday (3-6 p.m. ET) in Orlando, Fla.

Cook, 25, is venturing to the Pro Bowl for the second straight year after matching the franchise record with 16 rushing touchdowns this season.

McGovern, 27, started all 16 games in which he has played this season. He is making a Pro Bowl appearance for the first time in his career.

Mayfield, 29, becomes the first Bucs QB to make multiple Pro Bowls (also 2023) after setting career highs in passing yards (4,500) and touchdown passes (41).

Two AFC quarterbacks were also added to the roster Tuesday, with the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Russell Wilson and New England Patriots rookie Drake Maye replacing the Bills’ Josh Allen and the Ravens’ Lamar Jackson.

It’s the 10th selection for Wilson, 36, and his first since 2021.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is in as a replacement for the Commanders’ Terry McLaurin and Steelers guard Isaac Seumalo subs in for the Chiefs’ Trey Smith.
