NFL News: Bengals sign QB Reid Sinnett to practice squad

The Cincinnati Bengals signed quarterback Reid Sinnett to the practice squad on Friday.

If Joe Burrow can’t play Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams, Sinnett would back up Jake Browning. Burrow returned to practice Friday in a limited capacity after not participating on Thursday with a right calf strain.

Sinnett, 26, spent part of training camp and the preseason with Cincinnati before being released on Aug. 29.

Undrafted out of San Diego in 2020, Sinnett has also spent time with the Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers but has not appeared in a regular-season game.

Burrow, 26, is day-to-day with his calf strain. He was originally injured in a training camp session on July 27 and did not participate in practices or preseason games for five weeks.

He has completed 41 of 72 passes for 304 yards with two touchdowns and one interception during the Bengals’ 0-2 start.

“Anytime he’s out there, that’s our best chance of winning,” Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd said. “He’s the leader of this team and he’s what makes this team go. But whatever the case may be, we’ve got to prepare ourselves for whichever situation is gonna come.

“I’m preparing to play with Joe. That’s what we’re preparing to do.”

It would be the first NFL start for the 27-year-old Browning, a former college standout at Washington.
