The Chicago Bears placed safety Eddie Jackson and wide receiver Darnell Mooney on injured reserve Tuesday.
The team previously announced that Mooney would undergo season-ending ankle surgery.
NFL Network reported Tuesday that Jackson has a Lisfranc injury, but the Bears have not indicated if it is a season-ending foot injury.
Jackson will have to miss at least four games, making his earliest return the Jan. 8 season finale against Minnesota.
With his absence, the Bears promoted rookie safety A.J. Thomas from the practice squad to the active roster.
Chicago is also signing free agent safety Adrian Colbert, his agent Drew Rosenhaus told ESPN on Tuesday.
Jackson sustained a non-contact injury on a touchdown catch by the Jets’ Garrett Wilson in the second quarter.
Jackson, who turns 29 next month, has four interceptions and 80 tackles in 12 starts this season.
He has started all 88 games he’s played in since Chicago drafted him in the fourth round in 2017. He has recorded 14 interceptions, 10 forced fumbles and 422 tackles during that span.
