On Thursday, a massage therapist claimed that Deshaun Watson pressured her to give him oral sex during a therapy session that took place at a hotel, in Houston, Texas, in 2020. The law suit, filed in the Lone Star State, is the 26th known lawsuit filed against the Quarterback who now plays for the Cleveland Browns but who was playing with Texans, when the sexual misconduct lawsuits reportedly took place.
As of now “Watson’s status remains unchanged” according to a league spokesperson. However the league would monitor developments that take place in the newest litigation filed against the QB and if necessary would address future actions on possible additional sanctions that can be applied “within the Personal Conduct Policy.”
The 26th lawsuit was filed against Deshaun Watson in Harris County, Texas. The filing is under the name “Jane Doe.” Doe is a licensed therapist and said that Watson contacted her through a DM on Instagram, in December 2020 for a massage.
She had been working from home and agreed to meet him at The Houstonian, a local hotel. She said that Watson “removed his towel and offered to let her ‘get on top’”, according to reports. She refused the offer but he was able to pressure her to perform oral sex on him. The licensed therapist who generally charges $115 per hour was paid $300 by Deshaun Watson.
Th lawsuit also stated that the alleged incident affected the plaintiff who had “suffered from severe depression and anxiety.”
Lawyer Anissah Nguyen told ESPN that her “client’s experience with Watson follows a series of disturbingly familiar encounters reported by more than 20 women who have filed suit against the NFL superstar.”
She added that her client knew that she would face a lot including victim-blaming but she wanted justice for herself as well as for pmore than 20 women “who refused to be shamed into silence, and the victims who have yet to come forward.”
Deshaun Watson has not faced criminal charges in Texas as two grand juries declined to pursue criminal charges against him. However, Sue L. Robinson, an independent arbiter, who was appointed by the league and the players union, described Deshaun Watson’s behavior as “egregious” and “predatory.”
Rusty Hardin, who is Deshaun Watson’s attorney, told ESPN that he would not comment on this latest suit till he learnt the identity of the plaintiff. Meanwhile, the NFL QB continues to claim his “innocence.”
