Ex-school superintendent of New Jersey Central Regional School District is still being paid his salary despite having called the teenager who killed herself a drug abuser. On February 11, Dr. Triantafillos Parlapanides announced his resignation as the superintendent of the Central Regional School District after inciting controversy with an interview in which he accused Adriana Kuch, a student who tragically committed suicide at the age of 14, of using drugs and her father of adultery.
Adriana Kuch was reported to have been constantly bullied at Central Regional High School in Berkeley Township, New Jersey. After a video of her being beaten went viral on social media, the 14-year-old girl killed herself in her house.
Following the suicide of a 14-year-old, Parlapanides’ ongoing compensation was made known during a tense public forum held in Bayville on Thursday. The father of Adriana Kuch questioned whether Parlapanides was still receiving compensation from the institution.
Parlapanides was “still being paid,” according to board attorney Christopher Dasti, during a contentious school board meeting on Thursday night. According to Across New Jersey, Parlapanides earned $190,100 a year as of June 2022.
Students, parents, and other community members in the audience erupted in outrage at Dasti’s admission, which a photographer for The Post videotaped. The meeting was the region’s first since Adriana’s death went noisy and sparked a public reckoning about the ongoing bullying problem. It featured a number of dramatic moments, among them was the revelation about Parlapanides’ paycheck.
When questioned last week about Central Regional High School’s lack of response to Adriana’s assault and similar incidents, Parlapanides claimed the adolescent was using drugs and that her family had a troubled history. He callously expanded on the shocking allegations when he asserted that Brandy Kuch, Adriana’s birth mother, also committed suicide.

Following Parlapanides’ remarks, Adriana’s distraught father, Michael Kuch, vehemently denied that his daughter had a drug problem and claimed instead that she had been engaging in common teen experimentation with weed vape.
News of Parlapanides’ continued pay was reportedly released after Michael Kuch’s lawyer announced that the family intended to file a suit against the district for failing to address the harassment that they believe caused Adriana’s suicide.
