Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be visiting the U.K. for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Queen Elizabeth II. However, Netflix who makes docu-series with the celebrity couple will not be allowed to film them in public places during the celebrations that will be taking place across the bank holiday weekend.
Several British and international news companies have received accreditation to cover the royals as they attend events such as a Thanksgiving Service at St. Paul’s Cathedral, in London, as well as events such as Trooping the Colour and the Platinum Jubilee Pageant on Sunday, in London, which will tell the story of the Queen’s reign.
The Telegraph reported that a source told them that Netflix would be “moved on” if they tried to film the celebrity couple as they moved across public places and celebrations in London and England. Stewards are expected to intervene and prevent them from setting up professional cameras as well as tripods. A spokesperson Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not comment when asked for confirmation by several news outlets.
On Friday, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle confirmed that they would visit the Queen and the rest of their family along with their children Archie and Lilibet. The Queen and the rest of the family have not met Harry and Meghan’s daughter.
The celebrity couple confirmed their visit after they received the news that only working members of the royal family will appear with Queen Elizabeth II on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
Royal author Angela Levin suggested that the Sussexes’ deal with Netflix might have motivated them to visit at this point of time as crew from Netflix followed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during the Invictus Games.
However, other reports say that 73-year old Prince Charles spoke to Prince Harry and wanted him to attend the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Prince Harry, 37 and his family including Meghan Markle, 40, Archie, 3 and Lilibet, 11 months are expected to be present at the historic occasion of the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, who is 96 years old.
