The biggest streaming platform Netflix announced disappointing results recently and also announced the axing of several shows and series. One among these is “Pearl” an animated series about the life of a young girl that reportedly traced the life of “Suits” celebrity Meghan Markle. She and Prince Harry had signed a million dollar lucrative deal with Netflix.
Pearl, which is one of the many projects Netflix had with Archewell Productions, was in the development stage. The streaming platform expects to continue working with the celebrity pair. The recently concluded Invictus Games, of which Prince Harry is a patron, is being made into a documentary series.
On Sunday, Deadline reported that tech streaming platform had quietly dropped the animated series “Pearl” that was created by Meghan Markle. It was supposed to be the first animated series produced by their production house.
The series that had David Furnish, along with Megan Markle, had been announced with a lot of fanfare, last year, in summer. The series was said to be centered on a 12-year old girl’s adventures as she found inspiration through several influential women in history.
Markle had gushed about the project saying that their heroine Pearl was “on a journey of self discovery” as she faced the challenges that life threw at her (and almost each one of us as well) every day.

The project was in the development stage, when it was dropped and sources say that Netflix is hoping to continue working with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in other projects including the documentary series “Heart of Invictus.”
Meghan Markle and David Furnish’s “Pearl” is not the only kids series dropped by the streaming platform. Last week, Netflix had also dropped two more kids animated series that were in production. They are Dino DayCare whose executive producer is Chris Nee, popularity known for producing Ada Twist, Scientist and Doc McStuffins and Boons and Curses, which is a comedy-action series created by Jaydeep Hasrajani.
