Wyoming run-blocking tight end Jackson Marcotte announced Saturday that he won’t return for his final season of eligibility and is ending his football career.

Marcotte played 35 games (14 starts) from 2019-22 for Wyoming and endured two major knee injuries — tearing the ACL in both 2019 and 2020. He caught 14 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns.

“Thank you for an incredible 5 years,” Marcotte wrote on Instagram. “I have given everything I have had to this program and it has given me the best moments, people, and memories in my life, but I have decided that it is best for me to step away from Football and dedicate myself to other aspects of my life.”

Marcotte, a second-year law student, played in 12 games (three starts) for Wyoming in 2022. He had three catches for 11 yards.

Prior to the 2022 season, Marcotte was one of 114 nominees nationwide for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, which considers players with “exemplary community service, academic dedication and impact on and off the field.”
