NCAAF News: Washington QB Austin Mack transfers to Alabama

Washington quarterback Austin Mack is following his former coach south and transferring to Alabama, he announced Thursday.

Mack is the first player to commit to the Crimson Tide since Kalen DeBoer was hired last week to take over for the retiring Nick Saban.

A four-star recruit in the Class of 2023 out of Folsom, Calif., Mack is listed at 6-foot-6 and 226 pounds.

Mack did not see any game action and redshirted as a freshman, meaning he still has four years of eligibility remaining. He entered the transfer portal on Jan. 14.

DeBoer guided the Huskies to the Pac-12 title, a Sugar Bowl victory over Texas and a runner-up finish in the College Football Playoff by losing to Michigan. He accepted the job at Alabama last week.
