TCU running back Kevorian Barnes made an early exit because of an apparent leg injury in the second quarter of the Horned Frogs’ home game on Saturday night against Abilene Christian in Fort Worth, Texas.
Barnes was down for an extended period of time after a 7-yard gain late in the second quarter. The senior transfer from UTSA was grabbing the back of his left leg. He got up and walked off gingerly on his own.
Barnes, who rushed 11 times for 113 yards, including a 75-yard score in the season-opening 48-14 victory at North Carolina on Sept. 1, has 10 carries for 43 yards on Saturday against the Wildcats.
Barnes walked — again on his own — with TCU trainers to the locker room before halftime with TCU ahead 28-0.
During the game’s coverage on ESPN+, the announcers said Barnes would not return for precautionary reasons. Barnes was not among the starters when the Horned Frogs’ offense took the field on their first drive of the third quarter.
