NCAAF News: Report: Nebraska QB Dylan Raiola could be headed to transfer portal

The future of Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola is once again up in the air, as speculation continues he is considering, for the second straight year, entering the transfer portal.

Raiola ultimately remained with the Cornhuskers after his camp informally explored his transfer options at the end of last season, and it appears the same routine may be playing out this season.

Rumors of a Raiola departure were fueled by the decision last week of his younger brother, Dayton, to decommit from Nebraska’s 2026 class.

Cornhuskers head coach Matt Rhule denied any knowledge of a move by Dylan.

“I haven’t seen that report. Yeah, I haven’t seen that” Rhule told reporters Wednesday of an article on CBSSports.com. “I would never get up here and talk about a player. I love Dylan like I love all my guys. He’s in there in treatment right now. So I don’t know about that. I don’t know anything about that.”

Dylan has not played since suffering a broken fibula in the Cornhuskers’ 21-17 loss to the Southern California Trojans on Nov. 1. The injury ended his season but is not expected to prevent him from being ready to play at the start of next season.

A former five-star recruit, Dylan is Nebraska’s highest-paid player, having made about $3.5 million this season, so any potential move would likely not be about money but rather about the current sophomore putting himself in the best position for the NFL draft.

In his second season with the Cornhuskers, Raiola completed 72.4% of his passes for 2,000 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions.

He’s notched 4,819 yards, 31 touchdowns and 17 interceptions with a 69.1 completion percentage in 22 games (all starts) over two seasons in Nebraska.

Nebraska is 7-4 (4-4 Big Ten) heading into Friday’s regular-season finale against the Iowa Hawkeyes, with a 1-1 record in Raiola’s absence behind freshman TJ Lateef, a four-star recruit in the 2025 class.
