Oklahoma State defensive tackle Brendon Evers will skip the rest of the season to prepare for the 2023 NFL Draft.
The sixth-year player announced his decision on social media Thursday as the No. 11 Cowboys (5-1, 2-1 Big 12) prepare to face No. 20 Texas (5-2, 3-1) on Saturday in Stillwater, Okla.
“You took a small town kid and allowed him to live out his dream and compete with the best,” he posted on Twitter. “Thank you Cowboy Nation for some of the best years a kid could ask for.
“… Sometimes God has a different plan than the one you originally thought. After much prayer and consideration with my family, coaches, and medical staff, I have decided to forego the rest of the 2022 season and prepare for the 2023 NFL Draft.”
