Northwestern All-American left tackle Peter Skoronski announced Friday that he is declaring for the NFL draft.

The 6-foot-4, 315-pound Skoronski, the first unanimous first-team All-American in Northwestern history, is projected to be a top-10 pick.

The two-time, All-Big Ten first-team selection is the grandson of former Green Bay Packers offensive tackle Bob Skoronski.

“After much thought and prayer, I am ready to fulfill my dream and follow in my grandfather’s footsteps by announcing I will declare for the 2023 NFL Draft,” Skoronski wrote on Twitter. “I want to thank my family for their guidance and support in making this decision. It was not an easy decision to leave Northwestern University with eligibility remaining. I had always planned to be here for four years, but Northwestern has put me in a position that allows me to leave early.”

Skoronski won the Big 12’s Rimington-Pace Offensive Lineman of the Year award and was one of three finalists for the Outland Trophy, which is awarded to the nation’s top interior lineman, offense and defense included.

Bob Skoronski played 11 seasons with the Packers (1956, 1959-68) and was a part of five Green Bay title teams, including the first two Super Bowls. He died in 2018 at age 84.
