Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price combined for 186 rushing yards and two touchdowns as No. 21 Notre Dame pulled away for a 28-7 win over Boise State on Saturday afternoon in South Bend, Ind.
Love finished with 16 carries for a game-high 103 yards and a score while Price had eight carries for 83 yards and a score. CJ Carr completed 15 of 23 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns for Notre Dame (3-2), which won its third game in a row.
Maddux Madsen completed 22 of 37 passes for 215 yards, but threw four interceptions for Boise State (3-2). Madsen rushed for the Broncos’ only touchdown to give them a brief lead.
The Fighting Irish outgained Boise State 389-315, including a 200-100 edge on the ground.
Leonard Moore had two interceptions for Notre Dame. Tae Johnson and Luke Talich also picked off passes.
Notre Dame grabbed a 6-0 lead midway through the first quarter. Carr connected with wideout Will Pauling for a 19-yard touchdown completion, but Boise State blocked the extra-point attempt.
Boise State pulled on top 7-6 with 4:03 to go in the second quarter. Madsen punched in a 1-yard run to finish off a 10-play, 72-yard scoring drive.
Love put Notre Dame back on top 14-7 with 48 seconds left in the half. He scored on a 4-yard run, then Carr hit Pauling for the 2-point conversation to claim a 14-7 lead.
Carr completed his second touchdown pass to give Notre Dame a 21-7 advantage with 5:49 remaining in the third quarter. Malachi Fields made a leaping catch near the right corner of the end zone for a 6-yard touchdown.
Price added a highlight-reel touchdown run to increase Notre Dame’s lead to 28-7 with 7:54 to play. He shook off at least four would-be tacklers as he weaved through the Boise State defense and brought the home crowd to its feet during his 49-yard jaunt.
