NCAAF News: Louisville RB Isaac Brown (leg) out for extended period

No. 16 Louisville will be without leading rusher Isaac Brown for an extended period after the leg injury he sustained in Saturday’s win at Virginia Tech, head coach Jeff Brohm said Monday.

Brown had 126 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries before he was injured in the fourth quarter on a touchdown drive where the Cardinals iced a 28-16 victory.

It was Brown’s third straight 100-yard game and his fifth of the season for Louisville (7-1, 4-1 ACC), which awaits the release of the first College Football Playoff bracket Tuesday night.

Brown’s 782 rushing yards rank second in the ACC and 18th nationally.

Brohm wasn’t ready to rule Brown out for the remainder of the regular season, but said he will miss this week’s game vs. Cal.

“We’ll see how these next few weeks go and go from there,” Brohm said.

In his absence, Keyjuan Brown likely will see his role expanded. He has broken out the last two weeks as a change-of-pace back for the Cardinals with 189 yards and three touchdowns against Boston College and Virginia Tech.
