A sixth Jackson State football player is headed to Colorado to join new coach Deion Sanders.
The latest transfer is kicker Alejandro Mata, and the school confirmed his signing via social media.

Mata, from Buford, Ga., put up 85 points for the Tigers (12-1) in 2022, converting 50 of 51 extra point attempts. He hit 12 of 13 field goals with a long of 38 yards.
Sanders’ sons — quarterback Shedeur and defensive back Shilo — also are moving on to Colorado, as are defensive backs Travis Hunter and Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig and offensive lineman Tyler Brown.
Sanders, a Pro Football Hall of Fame member, spent three seasons as the head coach of Jackson State, posting a 27-6 record. Sanders, 55, was named the Southwest Athletic Conference coach of the year the past two seasons.
