Carlos Hernandez caught touchdown passes of 79 and 93 yards to lead Wake Forest to a 52-14 nonconference win over Delaware Saturday in Winston-Salem, NC.

Hernandez had five receptions for a career-high 197 yards for the Demon Deacons (8-3).

His 93-yard score in the third quarter was a school record.

Robby Ashford completed 15 of 22 passes for 292 yards and three touchdowns for Wake Forest.

Nick Minicucci completed 21 of 30 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown for the Blue Hens (5-6).

The Demon Deacons led 35-7 at halftime, outgaining Delaware 360-114 over the first two quarters, including 225-10 on the ground. Wake Forest finished the game with a 577-300 yardage advantage.

Wake Forest went 84 yards in 15 plays to take a 7-0 lead on its first drive.

Ty Clark and Demond Caliborne shared the duties on the drive with Clark gaining 28 yards and Claiborne picking up 24.

Claiborne finished the drive by scoring his 10th touchdown on a 1-yard plunge.

The Demon Deacons forced a three-and-out and wasted little time going up 15-0, driving 59 yards on nine plays.

Clark received the scoring honors on this drive, scoring from 13 yards out.

At the end of a quarter, Wake Forest had outgained Delaware 143-35.

The Blue Hens showed life going into the second quarter, driving 75 yards in 10 plays to cut the lead to 15-7.

Viron Ellison Jr. did most of the work as Minicucci was able to beat a blitz and get the ball to him in the left flat, where he broke two tackles and went 43 yards down the left sideline for the score.

After a Wake Forest field goal, Chris Barnes turned in a huge play for the Demon Deacons.

Backed up to their own 12, Ashford tossed the ball to Barnes in the backfield and he went 78 yards down the left side to the Delaware 10.

Three plays later, Ashford ran it in from the 4 for a 25-7 Wake Forest lead.

Delaware threatened in the closing minutes, taking advantage of an interception to drive into the red zone.

Wake Forest, however, forced a fumble with 29 seconds left in the half.

On the next play, Ashford found a wide-open Hernandez for a 79-yard touchdown and a 28-point halftime lead.
