Louisville quarterback Brock Domann, starting in place of the injured Malik Cunningham, rushed for a touchdown and passed for another in the Cardinals’ 34-17 victory Saturday over Virginia at Charlottesville, Va.

Cunningham’s streak of 40 consecutive starts came to an end after suffering a concussion in last week’s contest against Boston College.

Domann, making his first career start, completed 17 of 30 passes for 275 yards with two interceptions.

He also rushed nine times for 71 yards, more than what Virginia (2-4, 0-3 ACC) gained on the ground as a team.

The Cavaliers were held to six yards on the ground on 25 rushes.

Louisville (3-3, 1-3) sacked Virginia’s Brennan Armstrong six times — by six different players — giving the Cardinals 22 sacks this season.

Louisville rallied from a 10-deficit in the second quarter behind a touchdown run and pass by Domann.

His 44-yard run with 7:51 left in the first half tied the game at 10.

A 32-yard scoring strike to Marshon Ford with 10:35 left in the third quarter gave the Cardinals a 20-10 lead.

Virginia responded with an 11-yard scoring run by Armstrong with 6:58 remaining in the third quarter, capping an eight-play, 75-yard drive.

Armstrong passed for 313 yards while completing 24 of 34 pass attempts. He had a touchdown pass and two interceptions.

Trevion Cooley’s 1-yard scoring run with 54 seconds left in the third quarter increased Louisville’s lead to 27-17.

Cooley finished with 77 yards on 18 carries.

After Armstrong was sacked by Mason Reiger, resulting in a turnover on downs at the Virginia 47, Louisville drove to the end zone in five plays. Jawhar Jordan’s 1-yard run with 11:03 remaining capped the possession.

Virginia was again turned back on a fourth-and-1 play when Josh Minkins stopped Mike Hollins on a run for no gain at the Louisville 5 with 8:11 left.

Louisville’s Tyler Hudson had seven receptions for 101 yards and Ford caught four passes for 93 yards.

Keytaon Thompson led Virginia with nine receptions for 98 yards.

Dontayvion Wicks, who had four catches for 69 yards for the Cavaliers, including a 40-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter, left the game in the fourth quarter with a leg injury.
