Georgia linebacker Smael Mondon and offensive lineman Bo Hughley were arrested on consecutive nights this week on traffic-related offenses, according to police records.

Hughley and Mondon are the third and fourth Bulldogs football players to be charged with reckless driving since March. The arrests make 20 separate incidents in which a person associated with the football program has been arrested on traffic-related charges since January 2023.

Athens-Clarke County police arrested Mondon late Wednesday on misdemeanor charges of racing on highways/streets and reckless driving. Hughley was arrested a day earlier by campus police for failure to maintain lane/improper driving and reckless driving, both misdemeanors.

Each player was released on $26 bond.

Mondon, from Dallas, Ga., is a senior projected to start for the third consecutive season. He was selected to the 2023 Coaches All-Southeastern Conference second team after ranking second on the roster with 68 tackles. Mondon led the Bulldogs in tackles with 76 in 2022.

Hughley, from Fairburn, Ga., redshirted as a freshman last season. He was a four-star prospect ranked No. 127 in the nation in the Class of 2023, No. 11 at offensive tackle and No. 8 in Georgia out of Langston Hughes High School, per the 247Sports composite.

Georgia running back Trevor Etienne, a transfer from Florida, reached a plea deal agreement Wednesday in an Athens courtroom after facing multiple misdemeanor charges, including DUI, in connection with a March 24 incident.

The 20-year-old Etienne entered guilty pleas to underage possession of alcohol, failure to maintain lane and a window tint violation. Charges of DUI less safe and DUI under 21 were dismissed.

The plea deal includes Etienne being fined $852, receiving 12 months of probation, paying a $45 monthly supervision fee and completing 40 hours of community service.

Among the Bulldogs linked to driving cases, wide receiver Sacovie White was arrested in May for reckless driving, and support staffer and former Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones was arrested for the same infraction in September 2023. Offensive lineman Devin Willock and recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy died in a crash involving speeding and alcohol in January 2023.
