NBC Universal Inks Huge Deal for 2018 Winter Games with Snapchat worth $75 Million
It’s official. NBC Universal and Snapchat have inked a deal for approximately worth $50-$75 million dollars so Snapchat can share ad promotions for the Winter 2018 Olympics. When users are on Snapchat and post their live content using the app, ad content will appear. Snapchat gets to share exclusive content for the Olympics and NBC will sell the ads on the apps content, and license it out to marketers. Snapchat’s coverage of the games will be shared on Buzzfeed’s Snapchat Discover media hub.
Of course, NBC will be monetizing Olympic coverage among other social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, but Snapchat will get some “exclusive content” from the Winter Olympics 2018 from NBC.
The Winter Olympics this year take place in Winter Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
NBC Universal invested $500 million dollars in Snap Inc. As of 9:49 AM Eastern time Snap Inc. (NYSE:SNAP) is trading at 22.18, down -0-41 percent in mid-day trading.
