Jaden “Nay” Bhopal logged 18 points and 11 assists as Warriors Gaming Squad posted a 77-61 victory over Blazer5 Gaming on Wednesday as group play for the NBA 2K League’s 5v5 The Tipoff event got underway.
The Warriors are the league’s reigning 5v5 champions, and the Wednesday matches were the first of the 5v5 season. Lakers Gaming captured the 3v3 championship on April 27.
After leading by just two points at halftime, the Warriors outscored Blazer5 42-28 in the second half to cruise to the victory. Nidal “Mama Im Dat Man” Nasser and Charlie “CB13” Bostwick each contributed 16 points and 10 assists for the Warriors. Patrick-John “YouBots” Fadel paced Blazer5 with 20 points.
Elsewhere, NetsGC got 32 points and 13 assists from Tariq “Greens” Reed in a 74-71 win over NBL Oz Gaming. Dayne “OneWildWalnut” Downey added 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Nets, while Caesar “Ceez” Martinez amassed 36 points and seven assists for NBL.
