Lakers Gaming completed a perfect run through group play for the NBA 2K League’s 3v3 Switch Open, winning twice on Friday.
The Lakers, who earned the championship of the season-opening Slam Open last week, sit atop the Switch Open group standings at 4-0. Heat Check Gaming (3-0) could tie for first with a victory over Magic Gaming on Saturday.
Celtics Crossover Gaming and Knicks Gaming also posted two victories apiece on Friday as both finished at 3-1. Mavs Gaming wound up at 2-2 following a two-match Friday sweep.
The Lakers opened Friday action with a reverse sweep of Blazer5 Gaming. After Blazer5 posted 22-18 and 22-17 wins, the Lakers roared back with 22-16, 22-19 and 23-21 victories. Dhwan “ShiftyKaii” White paced the Lakers with an average of 11.2 points per game.
The Lakers then thrashed T-Wolves Gaming 3-0, prevailing 21-17, 22-15 and 21-12. ShiftyKaii put up 13.7 points per game in the sweep.
The Celtics crushed Wizards District Gaming 3-0, then topped 76ers GC 3-1. The Knicks nipped Raptors Uprising GC 3-2, then erased a two-game deficit to beat the Wizards 3-2. The Mavs trounced Pacers Gaming and Blazer5, both by 3-0 scores.
In the day’s other action, NetsGC snuck past the Gen.G Tigers 3-2, NBL Oz Gaming got past Hawks Talon GC 3-1, Pacers Gaming eked out a 3-2 win over the T-Wolves, Cavs Legion GC toppled the Nets 3-0, the Tigers handled NBL 3-1, the Raptors defeated the 76ers 3-1 and the Hawks downed the Cavs 3-1.
The Heat-Magic match is the one action scheduled for Saturday. Group play concludes Monday with one match: Warriors Gaming Squad vs. Kings Guard Gaming.
