The Gen.G Tigers swept NBL Oz Gaming 2-0 in an all-international Eastern Conference semifinal matchup at the NBA 2K League’s 5v5 The Tipoff event on Wednesday in Washington.
The Tigers move on to Eastern Conference final meeting on Friday against 76ers GC, who topped Magic Gaming 2-1 on Wednesday.
Gen.G downed NBL Oz 56-50 and 57-44 behind averages of 15 points and nine assists from Jaiden “gallow” Frank.
The 76ers opened with an 81-76 victory before the Magic pulled even with a 72-71 triumph. In the decisive third game, the 76ers prevailed 75-64 thanks to 25 points from Andre “Dre” Marshall.
The Western Conference semifinals in the $250,000 tournament are scheduled for Thursday. Defending NBA 2K League 5v5 champion Bucks Gaming will oppose the two-time defending champion of The Tipoff, T-Wolves Gaming. The other match will feature Grizz Gaming and Warriors Gaming Squad.
The NBA 2K League 5v5 season will include three tournaments — The Tipoff, The Turn and The Ticket — that will set the field for the playoffs, scheduled for Aug. 2-5 in Washington.
Remote group play in The Tipoff set the field for this week’s remote bracket play. The tournament is concluding with in-person tournament play at District E in Washington, with the championship match set for Saturday.
