Cavs Legion GC came from behind to upset top-seeded Heat Check Gaming 2-1 on Thursday in Washington and earn a berth in the Eastern Conference finals at the NBA 2K League’s 5v5 playoffs.
The Cavs will square off on Friday with Celtics Crossover Gaming, who swept Raptors Uprising GC 2-0 in the other Eastern Conference semifinal.
Top-seeded Warriors Gaming Squad, the reigning 5v5 champions, advanced to the Western Conference finals with a 2-0 victory over Bucks Gaming.
The Warriors also won The Tipoff and The Turn events this season.
Pistons GT will try to upset the Warriors on Friday after edging T-Wolves Gaming 2-1.
The NBA 2K League 5v5 playoffs, which feature a single-elimination bracket, began with six teams vying for portions of a $900,000 prize pool. The conference finals on Friday will be best-of-three, while the finals on Saturday will be best-of-five.
On Thursday, the Heat opened with a 79-66 win, but the Cavs rallied for 65-52 and 73-67 victories. Brian “Killeyy” Diaz contributed 22.3 points and 6.7 assists per game, while teammate Malik “Slaughter” Leisinger averaged 19.6 points and 11.6 rebounds per contest. The Heat’s Kennedy “Sawc” Tauala Jr. averaged 15 points and eight boards per game.
The Celtics earned two tight wins over the Raptors, 80-75 and 73-71. David “Leche” Jamous logged 22.5 points and 15.5 assists per contest for the Celtics, while Antoine “antoinelove” Times averaged 22.5 points and 16 assists for the Raptors.
Nidal “Mama Im Dat Man” Nasser put up 22 points per game as the Warriors got past the Bucks 68-55 and 69-66. Mason “JohhnyRed” Bracken averaged 18.5 points for the Bucks.
The Pistons took their opener 77-62 before the T-Wolves equalized with a 91-83 victory. The Pistons claimed the decisive third game 73-69. Anthony “ANT” Costanzo averaged 28 points and 12.3 assists for the Pistons, while Michael “BearDaBeast” Key produced 28 points and 13 assists per game for the T-Wolves.
